OK, per request, I have scanned and made available the McCook Field (Eng. Div. Air Service) report number 622a dated July 14, 1923 on the "FAILURE OF STABILIZER MEMBER FROM P-213, FOKKER D-7." It is large in size, so just email me regarding your interest in me sending you a larger resolution email copy of this report:
garysewal@aol.com
Regards, Gary
PS - My previous post quoted a suggested wall thickness of 0.039" thickness, but upon reading over the report again, that figure should be 0.049" wall thickness, quite a bit larger than Fokker's 0.019" (0.5mm) actual wall thickness used, but tail-heaviness is a design concern with Fokker tail tubing wall thicknesses. That's why many sizes used (some, but not all) in the Fokker tails had 0.5mm walls. Therefore, I believe that if the stab tube is built today using 35mm x 1.0mm tubing, it is a good compromise.

new tires
Ed Borkoski stopped by on his way home from visiting Fred Murrin. I bought a set of tires made by Roger Freeman. Here is a picture of these tires.

and making sure they fit the axle ....

trying to figure out how to weave the cable on the landing gear bracing wires!

and more bracing wire ..

Hey Jeff,
Are those tires 28" diameter, like for a Dr.I, or are they 30" like for your D.VII?
Regards, Gary

Jeff,
Your gear looks great.
Picked up my 30" x 3.5" gray tires on Saturday.
I'm combining them with the ~24" clincher rims that I found in a cottage basement and the 4" Matco wheels which will have the rims drilled to turn them into hubs - with 'internal' disc brakes no less. I just hope that they end up looking as good as yours!
Hope to see you soon.
Regards,
Maxim08
BTW, remind me to tell you about the truck catching fire coming over the Peace Bridge in Buffalo...

Landing Gear Parts
I have tried to make a jig like Achim's for cutting out the ribs for the landing gear. I used the Replicraft plans. You can see a scan of the drawings at the bottom, and a cardboard cutout over the plywood cutout, and the jig to hold the capstrip in place. They turned out well.
