A Tripe pilot? My hat is off to you as I've heard that the "Flying Venician blind) Is a challenging bird to tame!
Thanks for the Ranger #s It looks like the most the 200 hp Ranger will make for torque is 447, which isn't too bad.

Carving bumps off of tires in the Living Room

Troy,
I'm really impressed. Does your wife know you work on tires in what surely must be your living room? I would be toast or worse if I ever even thought about doing something like what you appear to be doing in the photo.

Thanks much for your very informative comments on your project.

As hard as it is John to beleive, YES she does. My wife is super about this. Beleive it or not, my first plane I built was a Fokker DVIII 3/4 scale, (way to small) and when I said I was building it she frowned at me and asked "where?"
I told her probably over at my dads shop (I didn't have one then) and she said "Oh No you don't I'll never get to see you so your going to build it at home" Well I pointed out to her that there was no garage in the mansion and she said "So use this ridicullesly large Great room" I was floored but hey!
And I got pictures to prove it to;

http://www.mykitplane.com/Planes/Peo...20Sep%2002.jpg
And the rest is history. Now it should be noted that the plane was all Aluminum and I did paint it in the shop (though all the fabric was glued on and shrunk with all the windows open in the house) But it ended up taking over the kitchen, dining room and other parts of the house before all was over.
This time I have my own shop just below the house so all she has to do is come down

So carving a few knobs off the tires while watching the game is no big deal!

Give my kindest regards to her!

I know what it means to have a participating family!

And from what can be seen in the photograph of her holding the prop, she is a real beauty as well.

All the best!

Achim

Von Writter, that is the most surreal thing I've seen in ages! How the duce did you get it out ?

Lovely looking job though thanks for the pictures!

Back from the grave

Good work Troy! Keep plugging. One of these days you'll wake up and find out that there is nothing left to do on the plane. Then you have to FLY IT. Glad to see you posting. I've been offline/online (mostly off) for the past three years. Finally finished my nursing degree. Don't work anymore at the place where we used to talk on the phone. I'm at a different hospital now. Hopefully will post some photos from the Kingsbury Aerodrome where things have been happening even though I haven't been saying anything lately.

Hey Bill, I was wondering where you had got to. I tried to call you a time or two but you were not to be had! I'm trying to keep plugging away at it, I just passed the 1 year building mark this month and it seems I haven't got much done I had a very busy year in the shop which helps buy parts but doesn't do much for the building end. I'm near ready to start the engine testing so that will be a bit of a motivator for me.
It is a big step to start the engine on any project so hopefully that will keep me on target
I talked to Bill today and am getting some ID plates and a decal kit for the DVII from him which I appreciate very much as that is one less thing I have to find / fabricate.
Good to hear from you;
Troy W
