ulpilot,
Wonderful work and workmanship.
I'm fascinated by the top down shot of the tool in the vise. I'm guessing that this is step 1 in making a ferrule? Would you explain your process?
Thank you,
Maixm08

Jim,
It is a bit disappointing that it will never fly. I would like to build another one someday for just that. Anyone have a spare Curtiss OX5 engine they would like to donate to my cause?

Maxim08,

The first tool forms the eye in the spoke, the second tool wraps the spoke to form the ferrule. I'll try to get another picture today to show the first tool.

By the way, another thread had a discussion on removing the tread on the tires. I found a company in California that will do it for $25/ tire.

Here is another picture of the first tool for forming the Turnbuckles.

Hope this helps explain the process.

I am impressed with the workmanship, just like in the days of Glenn Curtiss himself. You are a master craftsman

I want to thank everyone for their very kind words.

Here are a couple of pictures of the gas tank.

Hard to belive It is made out of a home vent pipe and some metal roof flashing.
