Dawn Patrol over Geneseo

This past weekend it was the Geneseo Air Show 2006.

Saturday morning, greatwarpilot, myself and one other museum pilot, took to the skies just after sunrise.

Along with us was out regular photographer, Eric Dumigan, in the back of our Sopwith 1 & 1/2 Strutter.

These are just a few of the many pictures he took.

note 1: I am flying the SE5a and greatwarpilot is flying the Fokker Dr.I
note 2: It is hard to see, but both of us are in period uniforms.
note 3: It is a tough job, but someone had to do it.

Indeed... Geneseo was a great event as always.

I'll echo RFC Pilot's thanks to Eric for his fine work once again on these great photographs.

Always a satisfying experience to work with a real professional.

Not to mention great fun chasing each other around in these old birds.

Saw you guys Sunday. Great show, and an excellent display. The rebuilt DR1 looks awesome.

Beautiful shots of the Fokker-my personal favorite of course! Thanks a lot for sharing these pictures, guys, and hope you have continued success with these shows. Some people have all the fun!

Seeing greatwarpilot in the triplane made me think of this quote
Quote:
...Sir Hugh "Dingbat" Saunders, the SE5a ace of No. 84 Squadron, in 1977. By his own statement, Saunders was six feet one inch tall and 210 pounds in 1918, and he "felt terribly vulnerable towering above his cockpit, ...
