I'll stand by him as well. His thread taught me more about aircraft than I could ever learn in my books.

Put my name down.

No question - but him back....

I know, its hard to ignore them. Its hard not to bite into the keybord when reading these postings by men from a generation which tried to teach us politeness and correctness. Ha!

Achim keep on! Achim, lass dich nicht von misanthropischen alten Männern kirre machen!

It's sad when anyone leaves....
I say to bring him back.

Olympic1911?
I assume that's in reference to Olympic Arms' fine products.
I live about 10 miles from their facility.

Exclamation

This thread of Achim helped me much more to understand something about the conctruction of early aircraft than a wheelbarrow of books. This includes his errors and the different schools of thinking concerning replicas. We all had a chance to see (t)his aircraft growing over the last years ...

Please have in mind that especially one "extremely high skilled specialist and owner of knowlegde" lacks the ability to simply accept decisions of others or to behave like a civilised man (and I´m not thinking of Dan-San in this connection).

Ignorier dieses "A.....#@§" und mach weiter!

Achim,I have had the same experience on a couple of sites that I post to.I know that it can be very discouraging sometimes but you can't quit now. There are a lot of us who stay silent most of the time on some of the threads but your efforts are truly appreciated.I know that sometimes I can go for long periods where I don't hear from anyone,I guess that is opposite to your experience where you wish you didn't hear so much.
But just look how popular your thread is with the silent majority.
Please reconsider Achim. And for you serious types out there, come on guys this is supposed to be a hobby .Constructive criticism is OK but please lets limit it to that.Life is short, have fun! Cheers! John.

I have always found Achim's projects to be a true inspiration as far as my own build goes and his willingness to share and helpfulness has always been truly appreciated. That said, constant and malicious criticism can take an awful toll on one's desire to be so forthcoming. I would feel safe in saying that this is probably the main reason why you don't see more projects on the forum.

It seems that a few so called "experts" have succeeded in driving away one of the forum's hardest working and and diligent members.....what a pity. As I have said before, most of these critical postings are the equivalent of a drive-by shooting, fast and pointless.

I do hope that Achim will reconsider and continue to post. If not, I completely understand and will follow his progress elsewhere.

I feel safe in saying that Achim's exodus will likely be followed by others whose desire to share their efforts will likely be smothered by the possibility of having their projects ( replicas, art, models, etc. ) picked apart by the "experts".

My two cents.

Add me to the list of Achim's supporters.

Andrew

Herr Engels:

I only have a vague idea of what has caused you to leave. Frankly, construction of replicas is not my field of interest, and it goes over my head, but I am aware of the vital importance of what you are trying to accomplish and I wish you the best of luck with your endeavour.

Having said that, don't take it personally, and don't take it too seriously. If you are not a genius, you are indeed an artist, and critics shouldn't get in the way of your art.

Yes, maybe some historians are right and your method of printing lozenge fabric is not entirely accurate, but that's for your customers to decide. If they are happy with your product, nothing else matters.

So please, don't leave. You have made your mark in WWI aviation research and you will be sorely missed. Maybe replica builders of the future will criticize your work, but there must be always pioneers who blaze a trail in every field. The more replicas that are around, the better.

Best regards from Spain.

Dario Romani.

Add my name to the list

It is because of Achim's posts that I frequent the Aerodrome more than ever before. He was the first to encourage me and offer his assistance on pursuing my own goals. After reading about his work, his accomplishments, his struggles, his honesty and forthrightness, and especially his family and friends you get to know him and begin to count him as a personal friend.

Truely an inspiration to me and many others. The Aerodrome owes a lot to Achim and what he has done to improve the threads.

Sorry if this sounds like an obituary, but I shed a tear or two already and feel at a loss. I do wish that Achim would return, but would not blame him one bit for moving ahead. In which case I will be spending more time on his website.
