I didn't know the Mark 70 had a planetary gear box? Do you know the ratio? The output is the planet carrier, so the ratio shall be larger than 2:1.

I check numbers again and find that I did mistake. Prop 1700 RPM is 2400 RPM on engine. The HP rated for this is 210-245 HP.

Yes I have coming two engines Gypsy Queen 175 with gear box, no secret about that. This will be good choose for DVII. 1600 RPM at engine 2200 RPM also fuel injected too.

Can't seem to nail that number down , eh?

Anyway....don't these 70's have a history of crankshaft cracking failures that require some modifications? I seem to recall the FAA issuing an AD somewhere in the 60's addressing this problem and DH(or Bristol-Siddeley) having a book on required "modifications". Obviously, nothing that is required for your aircraft, but perhaps recommended. What are the "modifications" that were required and how does one determine if previously complied with?

Wonderful looking ship Pavel!

I shall check FAA A/D list and let you know.
Thanks for note.

There are two AD's that show up in the search ...

the one for the crankshaft:
BRISTOL SIDDELEY Model Gipsy Queen Series 70 Engines

and the other for an oil issue that effects the propeller. I don't know if this one is for a variable prop, so it may not apply to the fixed pitch prop.

De HAVILLAND GYPSY QUEEN Model 70-4, 70, 70-2, and 70-3 Engines
