Oshkosh 2007 & Replicas & Aerodrome People
Hi!
I'm planning on going to Oshkosh again this year, but I want to add some things to my trip and maybe you guys can help.
Last year I spent a lot of time talking with Robert Baslee of Airdrome Airplanes, Mikael Via of Glassair, and peter walker (all of whom were very generous with their time) about kits and planes, engines and such.
This year I want to be more deliberate with the planning of my trip and would like to meet anyone and everyone who might be involved in replica construction in some shape or form. Be it kits, plans, or just building something.
If any of you are planning on being there I'd be thrilled to link up with you and talk about what it is that you do. If you know of someone who will be there... or can recommend someone I need to look up, that would work too.
Hopefully this isn't too far off topic... the people who I want to link up with are here...
Thanks, I'll be parking in vintage.

Rob,
I am going. I have never been there and I want to stay a few days. I'm going to drive from Dayton, and I don't really care where I sleep, I'll camp if I have too. I want to talk to the alternative engine & PSRU vendors as my main reason for going.
Yeah, lets get together for lunch?
Jan

Last year was my first, the place is huge and you really need a plan if you are easily distracted like me... I'll probably be there most of the week. Shoot me a PM and we'll start the link up business.

Darn, out of about 100 people I've only got a response from one. How about if I rephrase the question:
If you know of anyone who does anything in the WWI world that may, or may not be at Oshkosh this year I would like to attempt to link up with them.

Repeat Aircraft
Rob;
Think the person you are looking for is: Bill Turner, owner of Repeat Aircraft, a company that (yes)....reapeats old aircraft racers from the 30īs and 40īs, including the De Havilland Comet and Brown B-2 racers from the golden ara of air racing.
Donīt know if Bill will be at Oshkosh 2007, but you can give oit a try. His replicas are true to the las bolt and nut. Simply amazing. You could aldo try EAA (experimental Aircraft Association) own publication, "Sport Aviation", they got records of past articles published in their magazine. Go to their web page, where you could find and article on Bill Turner (no relation with Roscoe Turner), I have read them, but donīt remenber the date, try the mid 90īs, you pay EAA something like a $5 fee for the articles photocopy.
Anyhow, there are certainlly many other "replicators" in the market today, so you wonīt have trouble finding one. Repeat Aircraft is one of the best.
The people at the Rhinebeck aerodrome in upstate Newyork is another place you could look after replicas from WWI.
regards.

This is exactly (repeat aircraft) the kind of stuff I'm looking for... yes, I'm well aware of Rhinebeck, but I'm looking more for the folks who make this hobby happen.
Thanks!!!

Butch,
Ok, so you are sort of engaged moving from man on man to a zone defense with the kids...
But you know lots of airplane folks (more than me at least)... any airplane folk you know that may be going?
by the way... if you are too busy to fly the starduster... I'd be happy to take it out occasionally for you... wait a minute... put down that Axe... it was a joke, honest...
