Thank you Rick and Dave for the encouraging news regarding Fred's condition. Thank heavens he had Rick in the air and loved ones on the ground to expedite his getting to a hospital. Certainly, those first few hours are the most critical. Here's to a speedy recovery!
One thing I love about Fred is how he can pursue a purist path for himself but not deride others who can't afford to do so. When I told him I was buying a Lycoming from Ron Sands' estate, he encouragingly said "Congratulations-that's a great deal!" Like others have said here, he patiently deals with so many questions and never sounds too busy to take them on. What a treasure to our rarefied community.
Jim
Here is what we hope to see at Dayton:

Fred Murrin
Fred had a more restfull night last night although he is in a lot of pain. His blood pressure is more stable and there is less fluid coming from his lung. He is talking and knows what happened to him. They are moving him some and expect to get him up in a couple days. All good signs. Keep your fingers crossed.

Allowing me the honor of " Groundcrewing " his aircraft at all the Dayton airshows, it is a heartfelt hurt hearing this sad news, especially after seeing all his successful take-offs and landings . I'm wishing Fred a speedy recovery and a special hug for Marsha......My best regards.....Bob Philios

Well, this highlights how dangerous those airplanes were, dedication to the art has its risks. Still, it could have been worse...
Dear Mr Murrin,
Thanks for building those great planes and flying them... hope you get well soon.

This news came as quite a shock to us at GWFM. We had just gotten calmed down after our D.VII went down, and then this news.
Fred was a great guy when I met him last year, and I am really glad he seems to be on the mend.
