Gorgeous! Thanks a million, John! Am I right in thinking everyone would like to see any images I'm able to capture of her when/if I get the chance?

Hi all!
Nice to see Joe Hauk's Kiger steel tube Pup on the forum. Does anyone else know of a Pup project being worked on at the moment? Or, are you working on one yourself?
I'm EXTREMELY keen to see any construction pics at all, just to give me pointers etc.
In addition, if you happen to have any original instruments, cockpit fittings, control columns etc I'd dearly love to hear from you.

Owl's Head Pup
There is an 80 hp LeRhone Pup at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine. It also has a tube fuse, is airworthy as of a year ago, and I believe was built by Dick King at Old Rhinebeck.

Oooh, wow! Very cool! I'm aware of a Le Rhone-powered steel tube Pup for sale Stateside - very tempted! -, and one built by Mr Pfeiffer a while back, also rotary. Very cool!
If anyone has any pics of the King-built Pup, please don't hesitate to get in touch! Also, any wing construction pics would be great - ribs especially.

Wes Jones, Columbus Ohio, is building a full-size Pup. I think he said he will use a geared VW engine. Fuselage is 4130, wings & tail are aluminum tube.

Very interesting mix of materials used. Is it from an engineered set of plans or his own design? Looks good. Needs a Rotac 2800 in it. Geared VW = small prop.

It is getting continually more difficult to find good aircraft quality lumber at reasonable prices. (The words "reasonable" and "prices" just don't go together when discussing aircraft.) I think you will see more of this type of construction for builders of "flyer replica's" as opposed to the "museum replica" builders. Even American Champion aircraft have gone from wood Spars to metal, partly due to the difficulty of finding good quality wood.
I do doubt if a geared VW swinging a big prop will be both reliable and powerful enough. Have not heard of anyone having any long term success with a geared VW, only grief.

Jack Kearbey in Tulsa is building a full size Pup. The airframe is Ash and Spruce. He will use a Kinner or a Warner radial if he is not sucessful in locating a Le Rhone
