Ranger Conversion

What is the forum's opinion on the Ranger 200h.p. inverted (cylinders sticking up) installation? Is there a particular conversion that seems to work well? I know there's a weight difference but are there other concerns? Considering the torque/prop differences do they perform well in a Fokker D.VII? Pros and cons please.

Thanks for the link Jeff. I thought I'd researched the forum pretty well but I missed that thread.

I hear ya, I saved the link as it comes up occasionally. being a Ranger user now, this brainstorming is quite useful!

With all this talk about Rangers, here is a engine mobility stand that I just finished tonight for one of my Rangers. It took about 3 days of spare time to fabricate.

Russ , the weight difference is not the problem ,to ad weight is easy . The Mercedes has 15 liters and a 109 inch prop , Ranger 8 liters and for sure a much smaller prop , so with a ranger your aercraft is not fighter aercraft , because it will fly like a wet sponge .

I'm finally done with this course, and will be driving home monday. I will be stopping at the gentleman who converted my ranger. He lives in Benton, Ky. I plan to spend the morning with him so I can plot where all the fittings go and how the inversion was completed. I also spoke with Barney Peterson about how he did his conversions and what prop he is using. He said he has been experimenting with different pitch and diameter sizes and that he has had some success with 102" diameter and 56 pitch so far. I may pay him to make my prop. John, as far a parts go ... still looking for a the front of the prop hub!
