DH4 at Oshkosh, read article on the flight

Here is a great write-up on the DH4 that I just found written by Don Parsons. (I spoke to Don while we were inspecting the DH4)

Thanks!

Great and very interesting piece. Fascinating to me was, despite all the problems there were two significant "non problems." One is that all the problems with the DH-4 engine were with what might be called "peripherals" -- radiator, starter, alternator. Assuming it had fuel and spark, the old engine turned out the required horsepower just fine.
The other non-problem was with the author's Fairchild 24. Except for dealing with the DH4's problems, his trip was about as adventuresome as it would have been in a Cessna 172 or a Piper Cherokee, neither of which has half the "cool factor" of the Fairchild.
