Actually I intendet to use a rocket!!!!

OK; Jest aside.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing how we did the ribs of the Fokker D.VII stabilizer.

To ensure symetry and equal lenght of all of the pieces we have done some special tools on which we then constructed the ribs so that these become pre-manufactured items.

I do not think I have to explain a lot since the images are self explanatory.

Premanufacturing the ribs is essential since otherwise the overal dimension of the stabilizer would not keep the intented dimensions. This is especially the case when welding oxyacethylene. The material simply shrinks during welding. The problem could also be resolved by using TIG what reduces the size of the area exposed to to the heat.

The solution above can easily be replicated by anybody. However wouldn´t that form a nice kit, too? All tubes in metric dimensions, cut to size and pre-manufactured ribs? Any interest? *;D

Best

Hi there,

Today I decided to do something different inbetween.

I have done some of the typical Fokker clambs. This time the welded ones.

I also did the rear mounting clambs for the machinegun mountings.

Enjoy!

Hello Folks,

Since we have sold one of our airscrews on Ebay some weeks ago and have received an order for another one, we have been working a little on this the last days. Here are two images of the latest airscrew before receiving its final finish.

We also got an order from a befriended collector of aircraft instruments to manufacture the throttle controls of the Fokker D.VII for him which he wants to ad to a partial cockpit display we did for him some years ago.

There will be some more interesting pictures to come.

Enjoy.

Great photos and interesting posting but I the offer by Marco Sommerau's offer did not attract a comment. Perhaps he should have contacted you privately.

I did find it interesting because I am interested in DV projects. Is there a separate thread or even website where you or those wanting information on the very accurate replicas gather to share information about particular aircraft such as the DV.

Hi Rearseater!

I must admit that I do not exactly know what you are talking about. What about Marco?

The other point is what D.V are you reffering to? I guess you mean the Albatros D.V, don´t you?

Best

Hello,

The project is comming along quite well.

Presently we are working out the parts for the rudder and elevator so that we will hopefully soon complete the tailplane.

Wulffo´s parts are all ready for inspection by the construction supervisor. This inspection must take place before all the pieces are welded together so that he also can inspect the wall thickness. Time consuming.....

We still have to rebuild our tool to produce the conical drop shaped control horns. This might take another week, but we hopefully will then be able to get the permission to put together all the pieces.

Images will follow soon.

Best

The project continuous!

Presently we are working on the Rudders and elevators.

Here comes an image of the rudder pieces so far.

Unfortunately we have been hit by a minor set back. I can not relocate my horn bending tool I designed to do the drop shaped conical control horns. *

Since Mike Maddeford made a very good drawing of this tool for the FTS some time ago I have asked him to do one tool for me. Hopefully he will do, since I am too "lazy" to do it on my own. Once the tool is here we can finish the rudders and elevators.

Enjoy!

Unfortunately we can not put together the rudder and elevator before inspection by the construction controler.

Just to show you something almost completed I can come up with images of the tailfin. today I have completed three of these. One always is a first test to check to see how things work. The second piece is for our D.VII and the last one which will be made using the most experience and therefore the best will be Wulffo´s.

The two following images are of our fin. The wooden sternpost is still to be done.

As usual: Enjoy!
