Well said Dan-San. Start it up Achim. And to the moderator, that was a gross overreaction, banning your most popular thread.

Big mistake of the moderators

I agree with Dan San and don't understand why Achims thread is closed. All and all it's not Achim who's beiing unpolite. ZAK keeps doing the same thing over and over even when warned and asked several times to be more polite. Moderrators you are making a big mistake here!!!

Exclamation It is time to start a new thread ...

... called "FTS Projects II".

Closing this one down makes at least some sense (and I don't mean the reason why it was closed now). The loading times are a real problem for the "not-DSL-users".

I had the intention to ask Achim to do so when he reached the number of 2000 replies in November 2006 - ironically no. 2000 was then written by our beloved "acer". Now he selected a new name and acchieved the same trouble.

Closing down the thread is not a problem - as long as there will be a part II. The Forum would loose one of the real important parts and a reason for its own existence. Achim is not building something that looks somehow like a Fokker D.VII, he is trying to build a real replica. This includes errors in his research and errors in the research of others. And unfortunately I have to agree, that in this case, he was "polite in a very sarcastic way". But I (just speaking for myself) would probably not react so cool, if the same person attacks my work repeatedly under changing identities.

For me it is no problem to follow Achim's work. He is just living a 3 hours drive south from me and everytime I meet him I have some very interesting hours. Even occasional telephone calls don't cost much within Germany. For many others it would be not so easy to be informed about the "Jasta Engels".

So please Achim, start with "number II" as soon as possible ...

I agree -- I have to check in on Achim's project twice a week. His steady accomplishments of big dreams make my more modest aviation goals seem that much more achievable.

Achim does post the progress of his projects on the WW 1 Aero forum, but not to the same in depth degree.Though without a lot of the discussions (especially the positive and informative)

I hope you can start posting again, your thread will be missed. I think we've all been learning here.

Hi Achim:

I'm happy to see the new thread started. You know that your work is admired by a lot people here. Sorry for the few that have to ruin it, I know how it feels too. Keep up the great work and look forward to your endeavors.

To The Moderator:

New idea... If a thread is started by a member that member should have the control to delete a post and to block a member from posting in that tread. This would be a great way to stop a lot of the unnecessary verbal attack that it can escalate into. Just think, it's a way that we can police our own thread before it get out of hand and you have to intervene.

Lloyd...
