Gavin- Great shots, thanks. Valentin has been here before. At that time he was asking everybody to give him all the data on building an exact Dr.I replica. Guess he does not need it now.

tengew- The first aircraft is a replica of Richard Wenzl's 178/17 and the second is of 502/17, both very realistically done and both Jasta 11, obviously.

Classic Wings Vol. 14 No. 3 (2007) has an article titled "The Return of Jasta 11" which details the markings on the 7 Dr.I reproductions that appeared at the Omaka show this year.

I have the issue at home, I can send details if you are interested.

Gosh, Valentin, I suppose that isn't von Richthofen sitting in the cockpit either (I am guessing this without any fingerprinting or DNA analysis). But you know what, I bet the pilots feel just like MvR (or any Jasta pilot in a Dr.I), sitting in that open cockpit, wind in the face, enjoying the thrill and sensation of the moment. Why, I would even give my Pour le Merite (personally handed to me by the Kaiser, of course) to trade places with them! =0)
