VR - you'll find that there are a good many experts here. Most notable differences:
- Radial engine instead of rotary
- sidestep on the fuselage
- tailwheel instead of tailskid

Gavin - great shots! Please continue posting your photos. I was down there for this year's show and plan to return in '09. Perhaps we might get a chance to meet.

cheers
Russ

Gavin - great shots! cheers

Russ
Since you mention this (radial), another member recently brought up the issue of potential uneven cooling of radials with these WWI cowls. I have not yet researched the issue and wonder if anyone may speak to this.

The photos are phenomenal! ....obviously shot by a professional and they are inpirational!

First off, these are replicas and and since their are NO copies of the Original plans that WE WILL NEVER KNOW truly the exact details of the whole build.

Your comments on the experts is vary childish. Since you may be new here I would be careful about harsh words about our EXPERTS here. You will never find a finer group of Dr.I experts here the include top researcher and authors on the Dr.I.

Oh, by the way it's not a "Dr 1" it's Dr.I

Hi Gavin:

Always a pleaser in seeing the NZ birds fly. I would love to make a calender from your photos.... Thanks for the new pic...

Lloyd...

Sorry for not pointing out that the aircraft are not original due to their being no original DR.1s left but an expert would alreay know that.
All I know is they look very real to me and having them fly alongside sure does take one back to another time.

Thanks for the comments on the photos, I have 100s to add to the site soon just waiting for a few publications to use them first and I geuss I should point out that they are replicas as well.

Gavin,

1 - Your photographs are beautiful

2 - The aircraft- whatever they are - are beautiful

3 - Ignore the idiots. You didn't post your photos with the captions that these are "real" DR-1s. You were just sharing an incredible moment in time. The idiots can't see the forest for the trees.
