Joe,
In my continuing adventure to scrub the FAA Registry and ID all the WWI like aircraft I came across this Tabloid... Maybe you already know of it, but if not it may be useful to look these folks up.

Very useful Rob,...thank you! Particularly now.

I was made aware of this aircraft previously, I knew only of it's general location in California. I will look into this a bit. From what I hear, it was featured in either "Ghosts of WWI", book or calendar.

Major Project Re-Focus

I've shifted the project from a re-designed facsimile in favor of authenticity.

Reason for this is detailed in today's entry in my Journal and the web-site now reflects the change. Basically, "Falling in Love" with the idea of bringing the aeroplane "Back to Life" (engine excepted) as I see the results of the 3d renderings.

Thanks again Rob!

Follow-up to C C AIR CORPORATION , It would seem that this is likely Javier Arrango's collection.

Yep- it's in the Ghosts book, and there's even a couple of pics of it in flight in the latest WW I Aero.

I had that book in my hands at Barnes & Noble but, had to drop it to go before I had a chance to look it over. Will look for it now.

A quick check for the calendar and I see the online source is sold out.

Thanks Robert!

Phil's Albatros Thread?

Where's Phil's Albatros thread? I just looked for it to post something and I see it's no longer there?

in the course of my float research, I've stumbled upon an Albatros on floats and thought it looks quite interesting.

Joe,
Today I noticed that the seaplane version of the Thomas-Morse Scout has a set of floats very much like that on the Sopwith Baby.

I also noticed that Roger Freeman's "FREEMAN HERITAGE COLLECTION LLC" has 6 Tommy's registered... one of which is a S-5... otherwise known as the seaplane version.

On Roger's website it only mentions two of the S-4C versions, but that site is not kept up to date...

Anyway, you may want to contact Roger and see what he has to say... who knows, he may have some insight into the floats you could use.

The attached photo is of the Tommy on floats at the Naval Air museum in pensacola.

Just an observation... I could be off track, let me know.

It is an odd coincidence that you have mentioned the TM S-5 in connection with the Sopwith Baby. I am not certain that the floats that are on the one in Pensacola are correct. but they Could be. Or they could have copied the Baby style floats. But this image shows Both styles at the same time, in the same photo, at a U.S. seaplane base,. The TM S-5 is on the left. and the Baby is on the right. In this photo, the TM floats are much thinner and sharper in the front and fairly flat along the top. But you can see the various differences. Still being in operation at the same place and time, it is entirely possible that they switched various floats between different planes.

Joe,
that is interesting... the floats on the pensacola plane do look a lot like yours, and nothing like the ones in your example photo on the left.

It would be interesting to see the whole photo... maybe you have it posted on your website... I'll go look there.

Anyway... hey, what a great reason for a road trip to pensacola!
