Nick,
What a great project!! I'd missed that one earlier. That's one of the reasons for this poll, to find out what folks are working on.
Thanks again, and am looking forward to seeing it in the air.

Edward,
I'm sorry, maybe my first answer was incomplete... I'm interested in capturing all projects, whether individual or group/museum.
You could answer this in a variety of ways, but I think the best would be a single post for each project. It allows folks to comment on each individually and keeps things fairly neat and clean.
Oh... and as far as the poll goes... maybe you could get several folks to respond in order to capture all the GWFM planes? That part is less important than the whole of the poll.
I'll take whatever info I can get from you.
Rob

day two of the poll...
Its day two of the poll and things are going nicely. Thanks to those who have submitted posts to go along with their poll answers.
Builders... you seem to be a shy group... only two of the 13 who have responded to the poll have supplied any info in a post. Yes, some of you already have your own thread, but this is meant to be a summary of all the ongoing projects that we as a group know about.
Those thinking about building... Follow Brad's excellent lead and give us your thoughts and dilemas... what a great opportunity to share some ideas, plant some seeds, and see what grows.
Any info you can give is well appreciated.
Thanks for your support.

Something for the folks who want to build to think about :
An aircraft is just an assembled collection of smaller parts. There are only a few things that require "professional" type skills to construct. It is a tradeoff of time vs. money. Building an aircraft is NOT the cheap way to go flying, but if you want a WWI warbird, most of the time it is not a matter of choice. There just aren't many (original, full scale replica, or reduced scale) WWI aircraft out there.
Now, things like an Albatros or Pfalz or Roland (due to the lovely streamlined wooden fuselages) require more effort and skill... Anyone attempting one of those had better have patience, dedication, and fairly strong woodworking skills, as well as a formidable array of tools!

I am aware of about 6 new build projects locally (well, within about 100 miles). Others can fill in about the GWFM aircraft or you can check them out, most info is on-line, at First World War (WWI) Planes -- Great War Flying Museum. I'll post some of the others
New build #1
Builder: 'Al'
Aircraft: N28
Scale: 1:1
Plans: Schuler
Location: Brampton, ON
Status: 70%
Reg #: tbd
web page: none
Engine: M-14 - (RobW, you should ad this category to your poll)
This will be a sister ship to the GWFM's example being built from the same data. Owner/builder is not building for the museum but will hopefully fly with them on some occasions.
Regards,
John

I am an auto restorer by profession with over 20 years experience in fabrication and engine building. Building an airplane will definitely be a new experience for me, which is exactly what I am looking for. I feel alot of the skills will transfer and what skills I lack I will do whatever I need to do to acquire them. Currently I am awaiting my first bulk of materials to begin on the fuselage.

John,
Good catch. Is Al's N-28 going to be wood or steel tube?
Thanks, and I'd love to hear about the 5 others...
