Franzkait,

You have a very adorable little helper! Maybe someday he will make engines and fly airplanes.

framzkait- Beautiful work. That is one way to get a Ur.II, build it yourself. Will it go into a Dr.I or an E.V/D.VIII?

Udo,

Great stuff, but you can't fool me! The reason why your work is so good is that Christian is your quality control inspector isn't he! My two girls don't care at all about aviation, so I envy you having your helper around.

Phil

Hi Franzkait,

I don't know if anyone has ever told you before....

Highslide JS

You do beautiful work!

Oh ya, the engine is nice too!

Seriously the engine looks mind boggling! Do you cast your cylinders?
Or do you machine them from solid or thick wall tube?
They look cast, but I knew an old man that was self taught, he made antique motorcycle parts. He machined his cylinders from solid, but they looked as if he had cast them by the time he was through.

I look forward to seeing more fotografs and eventually the test run!

Very Best Regards, Jay

Sid , the rusty looking blank is a casting , for 5 engines it is to expensive to make a forging .
Taz , a Dr1 Oberursel is different to a E5 . I build the Dr1 version .
Jay , cylinders are machined from solid .

one big different from the 110 Le Rhone to the Oberursel , the Oberursel cankcase is made from a casting . So for a authentic looking Ur2 it must be a casting . This are the patterns for the Ur2 crankcase .

Are all of the patterns made of wood?
Are they coated with a protective coat or mold release (Blue)?
NICE WORK!
