Spot on there Bill,
Just found the other pic that was with this on ebay. Rather wish I'd bought it now as it didn't go for a high price. I was told that this was from a tank. Don't know what the difference is, maybe just the paint colour was the clue

You know... some of the "patio furniture" ones would be really, REALLY close if you shop around... just cut the legs off.

Wicker seat manufacture

I have the blueprints for Brisfit, Snipe and Camel wicker seats from which I am working up jigs and materials to make a few for myself. Once I go through tooling up, more copies is simple by comparison.

I am planning to crank out the first one late fall.

One note! these guys were quite short and fit - the dressed maniquins in our museum look like 14yr olds, I'd never fit in those unifoms and I'm only 5'7" 160lbs! Point is, bluntly, your ass may be too wide for the seat pan.

I have thought this one through and the jig that holds the cane in place before it is all woven into a seat is designed to be adjustable. So if you want a seat, find the seat pan width of a chair that you can sit in comfortably with your flight suit on!

Exclamation terne plate order...

Ok, the first quote is in. Available, in stock , located in California, are the following sizes: .024", .030", and .048" with all available in 48" wide coils (subject to prior sale and all meeting ASTM A308). 24' is minimum order for each size, so not a problem there! There are two price discounts for volume. Here's the price break down for each size:

.024": 24' up to 60' $36.19/ft, 60' up to 120' $21.02/ft, 120'+ $17.85/ft
.030": 24' up to 60' $34.66/ft, 60' up to 120' $24.45/ft, 120'+ $16.35/ft
.048": 24' up to 60' $52.75/ft, 60' up to 120' $28.05/ft, 120'+ $23.10/ft

I do not have an idea yet for shipping, that is next on the list to do. Initially, it will have to be truck since we will be talking heavy weights (120' rolls will be over 500 pounds each).

Who wants what?

Scott

terne plate order, part 2

Just talked to Yellow Freight, trying to get a estimate on shipping charges. A 4' by 2' by 2' crate weighing 800 pounds will be around $350 delivered to my Oregon address. Not as bad as I was expecting.

Scott,
That's fantastic, can't thank you enough for the trouble you've been to and for the effort it will take to organise this. It's certainly very much appreciated.
Please put me down for 20 foot of the .030"
Great stuff

Cheers, Nick

Scott,
This is the guy who made mine Wicker Works
But no doubt someone closer to home who could do the same.

Bill,
Some of the Aussies, notably Arthur Henry Harry Cobby - The Aerodrome - Aces and Aircraft of World War I and
Elwyn Roy King - The Aerodrome - Aces and Aircraft of World War I
were both well over 6 foot tall. Both flew Camels. You'd have to wonder how they got in them with all their flying gear on. Bo King later went onto the Snipe and described it as "Some Bus" as could get into it a bit easier.

Cheers, Nick

Ok Nick, you are down for 20' of .030". Between you and I, we have minimum amounts for .024" (200+ ft) and .030" (50 ft). Now let's see if we can get the amount for .030" over 120' to really make this cost effective.

Next?

Nick,

Thanks for the Wicker Works link. There's a link on that site for a wicker restorer who is just down the road from my new Oregon address!
