Wise words of wisdom marc my friend, as usual. "Without threats and scoldings" seems to me most appropriate...

A Hidden Danger
In answer to your question John, Yes by all means continue your extremely valuable contributions to this far flung, but tiny community.
.....I would encourage Nickh to do the same.
....Likewise, I would encourage Hector to do the same.
Everyone should consider this....
Just prior to my joining this forum in Oct 2007, this group lost both Achim and Spadmaker, an incalculable loss of concentrated talent,...that is the real danger here.
I myself do not have the time nor inclination for forum hopping, so my suggestion and hope is for cooler heads to prevail in favor of the larger picture.

I hope you guys understand, we DON'T want to take sides. I value ALL contributions to this site, but after loosing Achim and Spadmaker I was ANGRY! I DON'T want to see that happen again. I want the positive contributions from both of you to continue.
I hope you will both forgive us if we occasionally feel like the overburdened parent of two fighting children. I DON'T CARE who is right or wrong. I don't CARE who started it. I don't CARE if my position is unreasonable to you. When a parent gets to this point, BOTH kids get put in corners. When I was a kid my brother and I had a better way since we knew our parents would end it for themselves and let us stewing our anger with each other. We went out and beat the c**p put of each other till it was settled.
May I suggest you guys resolve this directly, off this site. We don't need to hear who wins. We don't care who apologizes. We want you both back and civil. You don't have to like each other after you are done, but you DO have to be civil.
Anybody feel like they just got the lecture from dad where they just wish they could take the spanking instead and get it over with? GOOD!
Hank
Now go away and resolve this and we will wait for our friends to return.

Mr McKenzie
I know you have asked me not to add any comments on your thread, & until now I have done as you have asked, as it is after all your thread, however I feel that despite our differences, I should say this- your knowledge of how to manufacture new parts & what suitable replacment modern material specs to use etc, would be sorely missed by many of the members of this site including myself, should you decide to leave it. I do not fully understand the reasons why you & NickH are at loggerheads with each other, & hope that both of you can find a way to bury the hatchet "preferrably not in each others heads".
Bob.

Consider the impact to the community
Gentlemen,
Over the years it has been my distinct pleasure to make acquiantances at the various museums and places I've visited as I strive to learn all I can about the aircraft that we all enjoy so much. One point is abundantly clear, we are irrevocably losing the knowledge as we lose the people with first hand experience. That was THE reason I joined this forum, to learn from experts, engineers, builders and my fellow enthusiasts. The collective knowledge here is of inestimable value as a repository of very specific knowledge.
We are, by our very dedication to this field, somewhat eccentric and this can lead to friction. Granted. I sincerely and fervently hope you will consider the impact to our community if we lose your expertise and plead with you to find it in yourselves to settle your differences amicably. Your experience and skill are far too valuable a resource to lose. If you go and take your knowledge with you, how will future generations be inspired to become involved in aviation and develop a passion to keep our aviation history alive?

Hmmm, ....I'd say that's a fairly astute assessment!
Shall we return now to the business at hand?
...John???
...Missing you already!

Yes, please continue. This is a highly informative and entertaining thread, especially for those of us just starting out.
Many thanks.

Bob , (Hector).
As you will have realised , this dispute was solely about the Pup fittings and to you at least , the truth of this matter will be obvious.
Regarding your question , ... it would be inappropriate for me to answer here... but thanks for asking anyway.....Perhaps we at least might start again with a clean slate..... John
Since my posting on Thursday/Friday 12th....the aerodrome forum had been hacked , the exploit apparently being directed at my ability to participate on the forum......The aerodrome SEO software was exploited by a hacker , such that after logging in ;...when I clicked to link to a page , I was instead directed to a filestore.......The webmaster has now fixed the problem .
Having just been on the receiving end of the above sly dirty trick , I have since had time to reflect on some of the expressed views and feel very disappointed .

Hi John,
Welcome back! Thanks to Scott, the webmaster, for fixing the problem. I am sure that it is discouraging to be the target of such an attack, but being occupied with it only results in bitterness.
Consider instead that your knowledge, skills and helpfulness are appreciated by almost everyone here at the Aerodrome, and we are very happy to have you back.
