Spandau all metal propane firing progress

Hi all,

Jeff Brooks introduced me a couple weeks ago. I will be working on Fokker Fuel gauges and other items.

I have been to Achim's shop twice and hooked very hard on the DVII. Sold my Dr1 project a few years ago.

Attached are some screen shots of solid model CAD of various parts of the Spandau. I started this project as I wanted as realistic guns that go bang (propane only guys ) and all metal for safety purposes.

Also attached are a few pics of a Formula race car my business partner and I designed and built from scratch just to show a little of what I can do.

It appears I will have to do this in a few installments as you can only load 5 at a time

Thanks!

if you press print screen on your keyboard it copy's your monitor so you can paste it in paint or other similar programs and then upload it so it looks better

Print Screen

Thanks,

Even though I use CAD/CAM, some nuances of computors I haven't used or learned.

I also have Photoshop, so next time, I'll try the print screen.

Hi RedBaron1917, your shots look very promising ! I look forward to seeing more. What are you using as a reference for your dimensions ?

cheers,

Wolf

Thanks Wolf!

I have several sources. The Smithsonian drawings, Ray Hollings Drawings and limited access to an original in a Museum has been arrainged. I wish I were closer to David Watts, that would be invaluable.

Cheers!

Propane

The propane system is very tempermental. You have to get the O2 set just right to get it to fire. What we need is a small compact way of connecting the gas to the gun and getting it to fire easily.

Dido what Tim said. If it can be done reliably I'd be very happy!

Propane reliability

Thanks guys, I'll work it out. It will likely take a little time.

Before you invest too much time or money, you may want to take a look at this:

YouTube - Airdrome Aeroplanes operating machine guns

Granted, this is a Vickers, but I think he mentions a Spandau also. It wouldn't be much of a leap to build one.

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything... however, if you build yours... what will make them different from these?

I was hoping Robert would bring these to Gardner, but he didn't.
