Curtiss JN-4
Hello,
this is my 1st day on this forum, and so far it has been a true pleasure reading about all of your projects and interesting discussions. all of you have been a great inspiration to achieve my goal of building a Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny".
which brings me to the reason for this post, i am searching for a set of Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" full scale operational plans. i am having quite a bit of trouble finding a set if any one has any information on where i may be able to find them it would be a great help.
Thank you for any and all help.
Wishing you all clear sky's and smooth flying,
Zagoalie.

Hi Zagolie,
Welcome to the Aerodrome. You can get a CD of Jenny drawings from Leatherhead (See this post). The proceeds go to the Pioneer Flight Museum at the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome (If I remember correctly).
You can also probably get drawings from WWI Aero. Another member may be able to tell you the best way to contact them.

An OX-5, OXX-6 or a Hisso would be awesome but I guess I'm not quite the purist. My thought was to build up a steel tube fuselage with a Ranger ala Tallmantz.
I'm generally not a big fan of auto conversions, but if you're only trying to replace 90hp, it seems like one of the all aluminum V8's (which nowadays are plentiful) could exceed that, even at 2000 RPM. 2000 is more than the OX's turned but at least it's not 5000 going into a re-drive. At 2000, you're still turning a fairly large prop. The R-985 Pratt turns a 9' prop at 2300 RPM. For less than the cost of an OX or Hisso or even a Ranger, you could use all the high quality after market components for reliability.
Do you know of anyone using an automotive V8?

Same with me, i am building the aircraft to fly it. my 1st love is to fly and second to build so if i must make a auto conversion i will but i have not looked into it much i have been assuming that the deal for the OX-5 will go thro, but if not, i will start looking into auto conventions. a newer engine also mens less maintenance and rebuilding would be required meaning more time in the air. but a original OX-5 would my 1st pic i believe. evin if you are building it to fly it still is a replica of a beautiful aircraft with allot of history so it is nice wen you can use original parts for it.
i am farly new to building operational replicas so most of the people i know who do it i know from this forums . scene you mentioned it i have been looking around and so far i have not found a jenny with a auto V8 but I'm sure there is some out there. i am just not very good at Googling

New metal fittings etc
Hi
I am probably telling you guy's something that you already know, but here goes anyway.
There is a company "Arizona models" who are supposed to be making parts for full sized Jenny's etc, they advertise in WW1 Aero, I am not sure what they charge or how good their workmanship is "please let me know if you have any info on them", they might be worth giving a try if you want to build the Jenny's quickly.
Cheer's.
Bob.

John Gaertner at Blue Swallow aircraft is building up a set of Jenny Wings. If you are going to build a Jenny you may want to take one of his aircraft wood working classes. Take a look at his web page: Blue Swallow Aircraft, his classes are listed under the services tab.
