Fokker streaking
Searched the Drome and think I have a fair feel for how the DR-1 was painted. However, there's reality and today's non-dope paints. What are other builders/restorers of Triplanes doing to get the streaking effect?
Any help would be much appreciated as there's a terribly painted replica I may be able to save.
cheers, Boom

Again, here's a picture of Mr Murrin's triplane wings. Contact Mr Murrin on how he did it.

I gave it a shot on the landing gear of my DVII, before I learned it was solid green.
I used oil based paints from "Haddlock's house of paint"
I used the colors from Dan-San Abbtt's color chips ... although I have been told by folks mine looks too green, not olive.

Jeff,
To do the streaking right, it needs to be thinned more. And it needs to be applied over a beige color
The idea is, it is not applied like "dry brushing" as we read in some popular writings on the Triplane.
(Your Fokker green color looks pretty close)
Jan
Here's my 1/8 scale Fok D.V that I just built and I applied the streaking in the way that Fokker workers applied it

I don't know about where you are... but here he'd get arrested for that.
Seriously... I'd like to know the answer to this one too.

I followed the Murrin method on the wings of my Triplane.
I used thinned butyrate dope, Olive Drab over Linen colour made with Sun Valley Ivory mixed with Hickory Brown and Daytona White. (Sun Valley Ivory on its own comes out way too yellow).
Here's a clip of my wife Helen helping me with the streaky bits.

(Hijacking a thread)
Speaking of helpful wives:
An acquaintance of mine got accustomed to having his Childe Bride saddle and unsaddle his hoss and clean his guns. The Cowboy Bliss lasted exactly as long as it took other wives to learn of the enormously poor example the CB was setting for every other bride.
