I also wish I had seen it. Currently working up the CAD drawings to replicate them, and would be nice to get my hands on an original to clarify a few things.

John,
before we drive all the way up there, you should know that the questions we have require that we open the thing up ...

The one that just sold was a low speed anemometer. Don't you guys want the smaller high speed style on your birds?
Whoever bought that one on ebay got a real deal. The low speed anemometers seem to be exceptionally scarce.

For myself, either one would suit my needs. I think the inner mechanisim would be the same for low and high speed versions. The gearing ratio's, spring rates, and govenor weights are probably different. Got the Solidworks CAD model coming along, but missing some information on one or two area's. Need to either get pictures, or find a brave owner that will let me disassemble theirs.

Have you considered using computed tomography? this could possibly give you and idea of what’s inside without ever dismantling the instrument. I attended a three day class last year on digital/computed radiography for aerospace applications for my employer. On our last day they demonstrated an industrial computed tomography system that quickly performed a 360 degree real time x-ray scan of a sample casting. After scanning was complete the software produced a CATIA model of the casting complete with the internal defects. Unbelievable technology.

Expensive, unless there is someone here that can get us some free time on one.

I'll post some screen shots later this weekend of my progress.
