Dale,

Just had to interrupt your thread for a moment and tell you what looks to be a sweet build on your VK Nieuport 17 kit. Beautiful.

Paddy

P.S. Dropped off my Russell Smith 'By The Dawn's Early Light' at the framing shop this morning. Haven’t heard back on my e-mail to WW 1 Areo on the Nieuport 17 Rozendaal drawings yet so think I’ll give them a phone call now.

Thanks again to you and Tom for getting me pointed in the right direction.

I will have to go with LE colors however as below:

Maybe Lufbury's markings are worn out, but that's what started my affection for the N 17.

I personally like the Russian 19th's scheme with the "Jolly Roger" on the rudder.

See this thread:

Paddy, you're welcome for what little I did. You actually did me a favor by having the source of the Rozendaal drawings pointed out.

Brad, I am familiar with that scheme also. Nice, but not my taste.

Well, we’ll thank Tom for that then.

Talked to Tom Polapink at WW1 Aero about a quarter of an hr. ago and I just received a PayPal invoice for the large drawings. Also had Rozendaal’s translation document included. I’ll have to wait and see what the document is but got the impression from the Master List it may help with the dwgs.

All the best,
Paddy

P.S. I too love the Savage Arms Indian Head on those Lafayette Escadrille kites.

I've sent an e-mail to Michael to see if there is any interest in conversion to CAD and cleanup as noted by Bookmaker. We'll see what develops. I'd like to take on the challenge. Graham was a great guy, a pioneer in this hobby of ours and I'd like to contribute if I can.

They are on UK ebay.
Here's the one I like:
WW1 AIRCRAFT ALTIMETER on eBay (end time 24-Feb-11 11:14:09 GMT)

I will allow that while not liking the Lafayette Escadrille scheme in general (EVERYBODY does it), I have an extreme admiration for Raoul Lufbery.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

I'm positively green with envy and like a six year old waiting for May (kit order) and June (builder's assist) instead of December and Christmas. Is it time yet?

Got a ride in a Champ today! The very nice man didn't realize he was cutting me off coming into the pattern (I was doing a touch and go and he didn't see me on the crosswind) - but I had him spotted with plenty of time to adjust to avoid any misfortune - and once we sorted out a loose headset connection that gave him intermittant reception* he gave me a ride around the patch. What a honey of a plane! Couldn't see the dash from the back seat but it's definately just a luxury one can do without - dialed in coordinated turns after two 90 degree ones in opposite directions. It just speaks to the pilot.

Of course he showed off in the landing, going high on final to demonstrate a very nice, very aggressive slip and holding off the big flare to the last instant for a kiss of a three pointer on pavement.

* Naturally I parked when I saw he pulled up to the FBO, did all the post flight stuff as quickly as I could without skipping anything, and speed walked up there. Gorgeous aircraft with original instruments!

Hey All,

I check this thread regularly. It's very exciting to see the planning stages. I don't even want to build a Nieuport, and I want to build a Nieuport! (Did that make sense?) Can't wait to see what comes of this. Oh, and just to weigh in, I'm tired of the LE colors too.

snj5,

How do I find out more about Mark Miller Drawings?
