I'm having that struggle myself right now!

When weather and my state of fatigue are in synch I want to go fly! Building is fun and challenging, but nothing beats actually piloting an aircraft!

you need to get sheet materials clamped down or otherwise secured when drilling mate....as if the drill grabs that ally....it`l be a sawblade you`l have....give you a nasty cut that will.......

Wholeheartedly agreed. That photo was staged. When I was actually drilling, I had it clamped. Thanks for the concern however.

what you will find as well when folding returns on sheet materials mate....especially stuff like your aluminiums and your brass...stuff like that...is they have a tendency to work harden quite readily so when folding and putting returns on stuff....you can take it a touch over the angle you want....as it will want to come back.....if you fold under....you will struggle to get it to go further as when putting returns on stuff...you are effectively shrinking the inside edge...and stretching the outside.....so it will want to come back....if you go a touch over......especially with longer sections....you may find for instance if you are putting a 90* return on some sheet or plate....will be 90* at the ends....but often under in the middle....so get the middle to 90*...at which point the ends may have gone over....then you flip the piece over onto a tressle....hide face of a copper/rawhide hammer....and just rap it (not too hard) on the folded edge at the ends....will bring em back to 90* lovely that will....nice n steady....

Look what followed me home today.

I plan to build a lot of TW time while I build the N 17.

Now Dale, you know you can't keep it in your room. It has to stay outside, but we'll let you keep it in the garage at the airport.
And you will have to feed it and water it and clean up after it regularly. You got that? No shirking on this.

Very nice my friend, looks good.

(disregard, read back, found the model number)

It takes 90 degrees of rotation to recover from a fully developed spin... very precise. Fun plane!

I just received some great news. Per the FAA, my medical certificate has been issued and is on its way. YEAH!!!!! Now I can start building the tailwheel time.

Tomorrow is the end of "tax season" and my life returns. Time to start cutting and riveting metal again.

Along that note, I think my Dad is coming to stay with us for a couple weeks in May. He is good with metal and generally working with his hands on anything. Plus he likes this kind of project. I hope we can make some serious headway while he is here.

Sounds great! The longer days are really starting to work in my favor as well - nice for it to be light out at 1900...
