Used to make laser gun sight mounts out of aluminum. The customer specified finish needed to duplicate the blackend steel on the AR15 rifle. Best way I found was to bead blast the aluminum with a very fine silicon carbide media, then black anodize. Almost a pefect match, was perfect with a light oiling.

Thanks and sorry for a very late comment. To all following the thread, I am still alive

Shop has been VERY busy and then 1 spindle had the bearings go out. Hasn't left any free spindle time to machine Spandau parts in quite a while.

I am hoping to get a smidge of lathe time possibly this week.

If that isn't bad enough for my project, every spare minute for the next couple months will be building 2 possibly 3 new race cars. A few attached pics for those interested in itchy, sticky fiberglass.

Best Regards,

Tony Moore

Hi Tony .

Nice work on the plug .

You probably said before , but which "Formula" are these Single-Seaters built to & briefly ,...What are the specific regulations of that formula . ( I'm guessing its a US only formula ? )

Regards JM

Thanks John. It is US spec per SCCA Formula 1000 rules. Similar to a F3 with a stock 1000cc Motorcycle engine and 145 to 155mph top speed. Corners up to 2.5 G also.

Best regards,

Tony

Now maybe I can whittle a little on a fixture to cross drill the front sight rings and then solder a few together:-)

More Solid Model Assembly

Added the cockpit pull rod assembly to the weapon. I do not have a link or correct charging/cocking lever drawn yet. Will source at some point and add. There are some good photos and a couple real deals out there.

Crossing fingers + + + + + to maybe get a little mill time today if available.

Safety and cockpit pull added to Solid model

A couple screen shots to show the safety assembly and cockpit pull attached to the butt of the weapon.

Front mount stirrup shape screen shot

Just got finished drawing the front mount that is shaped like a stirrup. Many days of penetrent soaking, multiple persuasion attempts, cussing and fussing later, had an original seperated from the barrel jacket after almost 100 years of being somewhat rusted in place.

Will post a pic of the original later for all to compare solid model. then I will add it to my solid assembly.
