Fokker E111 3/4 Scale Replica

If anyone is interested, below is a link to my photo stream showing progress on my Eindecker replica. Been working for nearly a year now, estimate six months to go. Will continue to post pictures of the project as it progresses. Based in Surrey in the UK

Eindecker

Well, if you're interested, the kit is the Aerodrome Aviation Eindecker as imported by Grass Strip Aviation into the UK (Grass Strip Aviation Ltd)

Youtube video of their demonstration plane flying

And I'm have so much fun building it, mostly quite straightforward, only a few bad rivets...

I plan on finishing it as the black tailed 105/15

And the garage is normally a tip, I just tidy it for photographs

Hey SteveD,

WOW! This is the plane I want to build! Thanks for all the neat pictures. Please post as many as you like. Looks good so far. Please post often like Jeff Brooks, Dart, Bookmaker and all the others do!

Do you have good drawings of an lMG 08 gun? Or will you use Airdrome's gun? Happy Christmas! 'Nough said.

Steve, it may be in there somewhere, but I did not see it. What engine do you plan to use?

How did you fuss the plans into the right scale when printing on a plotter?

The wife and I were boggling at the attention to detail in what lay under the pieces as much as the craftsmanship itself.

And I concur - workspace is entirely too clean. Good grief man, if you're going to drink coffee have the decency to put a ring on the paper where the cup set down!

A few questions and comments:

1) Awesome job on shaping the gussets! I'll bet it will really make the covering look fantastic!

2) On the inside bends for the front of the elevator, did you anneal the aluminum? The curves on the inside going back to the spar for them are excellent, but the tubing looks a bit thin on the curves. Might be the pictures, though.

The reason I ask is that I'm just curious! It's a-okay either way and I was wondering if that's annealing or some technique you used for bending.

3) Any chance of coming to the States when it's done? My poor Nieuport 11 is facing the daunting challenge of DVII's and DR1's!

And last, thanks for sharing your baby with us!

The engine

The engine is the mz201 twin inline two stroke. I wanted a cylinder hanging down otherwise it looks like there's no engine fitted. The engine bearers have been made just waiting to bench run it then I'll fit it in the new year, will post pictures when all that happens. Thanks for nice comments, watch the link and I'll keep posting pictures
