S.E.5a "Factory" Plans for Project

Greetings all!

I am new here and wanted to know who sells blueprints for the full "factory" SE5a. Not a 7/8's or 3/16 scale.. lol. I am seriously thinking about into building one and would love some constructive input!

RKIRK,

Jim's plan set is probably your best bet as a starting point. His drawings have the benefit of being organized onto the nine sheets. My only dislike of this offering is that the drawings are large and cumbersome to work with. I prefer the smaller drawings to work with, but again, this is just a personal preference.

If you need other drawings to fill in some gaps or missing information, there are many here that have the data. I'll try to attached the drawing list of what I have. I haven't looked at these in a while, but I recall it being something like 700+ drawings.

Best of luck!

The drawings are on CD (pdf format), which the Pioneer Flight Museum offers for sale. It's pricey. I think about $0.50/drawing so your talking about $350 USD (I'll have to confirm this). That's why, I think, most start with Jim's drawings. He based his plans on the same drawings anyway, so again, it's a very good place to start and doesn't cost as much.

Of course, pricey is a relative term (assuming Leatherhead has the right per page cost). I think I paid well over $350.00 when I bought the same drawings on 35mm microfilm from the British Public Record Office way back in the '70's, and that was using real money, before the days of double digit inflation. It was another four years before I could afford to get them printed on large format paper! I have thought several times about having my film converted to digital format, but that $350.00 is looking real cheap right about now. I seriously doubt I could get my set converted so inexpensively.

I went through and counted them today......715 total. There are multiple scans (i.e. better quality) of the same drawing on some so between 675-715 drawings is a good estimate. In addition, the CD the musuem sells contains other items such as reports, pictures, letters, articles, etc. Things not included would be like Kiger's (Replicraft) drawings, Windsock Datafiles, Profile Publications, Squandron Signals Publications, etc.

I looked into the past sales, and yes, the past sales price was $350. I hope this helps.
