Spun aluminum cowlings

Group
I am looking at having a batch of Sopwith Camel/Hanriot Hd.1 41 1/4" diameter, 7" radius and Sopwith Pup 38 3/4" diameter, 6" radius cowlings spun. These would be one piece to the proper depth so the back won't have to be welded on. I am only going to do one batch of each and will divide the cost of the tooling between how ever many are made. I am looking to get the cost per cowl under $500. Anyone interested?

Redfern >24 ?r

Rick -

I have to check the drawings for the Redfern N.17/24, but if either will fit that airplane, count me in.

Rick, would that include the trim at the main opening and the rolled chin holes on the
Pup cowl?

Tom, you were first on the list!!!!!!
Chip, no these will just be the spinnings but I can do the other work or show you how if you have a shrinker/stretcher.
I am hoping to find ten that want this done to make it work out. So far I know of five. Waiting to hear from three others.
I guess there is more interest in the nasty German kites!!!!

As a customer of RIck's....

I'd like to let anyone who doesn't know him or his work that his work is top-notch. I not only purchased my spun bowl for the DR-1 but also my special wheels. You won't find better work for the price.

Hmm... I think we need to talk, Rick. I like it. Just thought of something. The Airdrome Pups have a longer cowl because of the engine. How does that affect the project?

I'm in for a spare, given my history.

Ummm... if y'all have seen Rick's bird, and what he can do by just hand-hammering a cowl, you would have NO hesitation in dealing with him! He doesn't take any shortcuts on quality! Unfortunately I'm not doing a full-size bird, or I'd be in.

Chip, yours is longer than these will be so you would still have to weld on the back like I did for Russ's Camel.
Russ, yours is larger diameter and would still require the same Dr1 cowl we used last time with the 8" radius unless you can cut down your firewall.
