"Older"? My father's house, purchased in 1958, was built @1920. I guess it depends on your perspective.
My father's house was built in the 1920's too. He lives in a small town in southeast Kansas. I knew that "older" comment was likely to spark some discussion. Let me explain it in this way: It is one of the oldest homes in the subdivision or development. There are homes still being built a few blocks away. One of my best buds just bought his house, about .5 miles away... he had it built. His was ~1800 sq ft in a 2-story planform, and even so he has a lot smaller yard. He also paid about $120k for it. My single story on a MUCH larger lot, about 400 sq ft bigger cost $25k less. Why? I guess because it's OLDER. ??? ??? Most houses being built now, in my area, are $150k+ for anything near the same size. Like I said, I got lucky... the "older" comment was a relative description to much of the surrounding area.

Nah, don't worry. When I was a kid we'd go to Lake Hopatcong once in a while during the summer. I grew up in Plainfield.
(I think the town there is Netcong. Which makes me wonder why Berkeley never officially changed its name to Vietcong.)

Mike,
Netcong is pretty close. Actually I am in Jefferson Twshp. A middle class guy who moved into a lower middle class neighborhood and now lives among the lower upper class. I really hate it when people stereotype people!
