How could I get alist of all the awards, medals so on that one WW1 Aces pilot had gotten in his military career?

I know going through the family but theirs 10 grand kids & they don't have alot of time to put this together.

Thanks, JC

Are you looking for a list of medals from a specific country? Or a list of medals awarded to a specific individual?

Our group is going to start a small museum of Col. Weir Cook.
A man from Florida wants to reproduce all the Col.'s awards.
And now we have to find all.
Where do we start?

Hi Christie -
I don't have a complete list of awards for Weir, but the list of honors and awards circulated as AS bulletins did contain his citation for both his DSC and subsequent oak leaf cluster award to it.

For extraordinary heroism in action ear the bois-de-Dole, France 1 August 1918.

Sighting six enemy monoplace planes at an altitude of 3500 meters, Lt. Cook attacked them despite their numerical superiority, shooting down one and driving the others off.

For the following act of extraordinary heroism in action near Crepion, France 30 October 1918, Lt. Cook is awarded a bar to be worn with the Distinguished Service Cross. Lt. Cook attacked thre enemy biplace planes at an altitude of 1000 meters. After a few minutes of severe fighting his guns jammed, but after clearing the jame he returned to the attack, shot down one of his adversaries in flames and forced the other two to retire to thier own lines.

I was suprised not to find a Croix de Guerre citation as it was fairly common for the French to recognize US pilots.

I did not find any other reference among the bulletins to other awards, but will keep an eye out for you.

Mike
