I am doing a history project over WWI aviation, especially focusing on the allies. I am having trouble finding out if the allies had blimps. Please help me if you can.

I don't know if they were called blimps, but the British did have airships. They used them for aerial recon at sea, in particular the North Sea.

The Royal Naval Air Service had airships such as the SS Class, SSZ Class, NS Class, C Star Class etc. Blimp comes from the sound the envelope makes when you "ping" it with your finger. The also had rigid airships - the R Class which did not see service in WW1 to any extent. The service was very sophisticated and if you have a fax or email address I will send you the relevant chapter from my book on the RNAS -provided you don't copy it for your assignment!! When do you need it by?
