Barret: It was USAFHS 133, and it shows his ORIGINAL score at 18, reduced to 15.83 due to shared claims.

The same study also has Wehner's original score of 6 reduced to 3.50 due to shared claims.

Mutley:
As to Luke's score according to whomever, if he gave 2 claims to Wehner, then they belong to Wehner. If you take those away, you are going against the wishes of Luke. You are also taking Wehner out of the fraternity of Aces, since if you give two back to Luke, you take two away from Wehner.

The above is just my .02 worth (US, not Canadian), frankly, I hope his OFFICIAL score IS 21, but according to the Grub Street guys that we're willing to put so much faith in, his official score, or I should say, they've only found evidence for 18 confirmed claims.

Still plugging away for Bishop.

I hope Mutley will provide more than assurances on the source of this new information. I'd like more details on the records he reviewed before chucking Study 133 out the window.

I've never seen a score listing for Luke of 19.

It's either been 21, or 18. I guess it depends on who you wan to believe.

I firmly believe Frank Luke scored 21 victories. I think most of us do. This was clearly established in "Up and At 'Em" by Harold Hartney. But I also believe Luke never received confirmation for his first victory on 16 August and he never received confirmation for two planes on 29 September. Unless he's found evidence to the contrary in the archives of St. Louis, Mutley's assurances remain unconvincing and contradict Hartney's book (1940), the Historical Research Division's Study 133 (1969) and "Over the Front" (1992), each of which concludes that Luke was officially credited with 18 victories.

But what the hey! I also believe Manfred von Richthofen scored more than 80 victories and William Bishop made a solo attack on a German aerodrome (howdy Al!).

Things I don't believe: A lot of Art Bell's guests and guys who litter the forum with false memories from previous lives...

Hi Al!

Art Bell is late night's number one talk show host. His syndicated show frequently features guests who claim to be experts in a variety of arcane topics including reincarnation, UFO's, time travel and conspiracy theories. Shortly before the Heaven's Gate suicides in San Diego, he had a guest on the show who claimed there was a UFO behind the Hale-Bopp comet. He was recently in the news again for mysteriously quitting the show for several weeks.
