Captain W.H.K. Copeland

Hi all,

I'm after some more info on a Captain W.H.K. Copeland (Walter Henry King Copeland) who was a C Flight Commander for 56 Squadron after coming from 60 Squadron.

He joined 56 28th May 1918 and went to Home Establishment on 5th July 1918.

I am after all the supplimentary info anyone can give me on him, victory claims, service with 60 and any earlier squadrons, biographical info and anything and all besides for that matter!

Sorry, all I have for him is from High in the Empty Blue so I'm looking to pad this info out quite a lot.

Cheers muchly,

The claim details I have are:

30/03/1918 11:10 Boire 60 RFC SE5a B190 Albatros DV Crashed
02/04/1918 18:15 S Guillancourt 60 RAF SE5a B190 Albatros C Crashed
13/06/1918 11:15 Le Sars 56 RAF SE5a B8361 Fokker DrI Out of Control

No record of any medals awarded.

The only other detail I have is his service with 60 Squadron was between March and May 1918. There was a Captain Copeland who served with No 4 Squadron RFC and claimed a victory on 20 July 1916; I haven't yet tracked down this pilot's christian names (or even initials!) so can't say whether it is one and the same person.

Thanks enormously for the info Graeme!

Let me know if you discover that the 1916 Captain Copeland and W.H.K. are one and the same.

Also if anyone else can dredge out some further bits and bobs on this chap I'd be most grateful.
