Then I will sign it illegibly so no-one can quite make it out....etc

Thanks, Dave!

What a hoot! Now we REALLY know what color 102/17 was! Plus, whoever wrote that "label" was nice enough to let us know that France was on the western front. This almost looks like some Rodney Gerrard stuff. I sure hope not...

Too bad some poor schmuck will wind up shelling out big bucks for this.

Dave- Actually had that piece of fabric in my hands and sent it back. Had not seen a photo of it when I picked it up. Since F.I 102/17 went down near Nachtigal on the German side of the lines, hard to see how a Brit could have gotten his hands on a piece of that fabric. Plus the I in F.I was a small Roman numeral, plus etc, etc. Rodney Gerrard at his best (worst?). Still have one piece of his "fabric" from Bolle's Dr.I. History it is, authentic it is not.

Maybe it was a mistake and it came off of the 103/17 of Werner Voss since that plane was shot down on their side. All in all it might be a fake made way back in the 1919 -1925 who knows.

Well, we now know what it looked like

What a treat to see that! The handwriting is so suspicious-looking...also the "F.I" would be positively humongous if you compare it to the wing cross, if it's that at all.

Could someone tell me what a "fusilage" is???

Red Baron- Go look at a photo of one of the F.I prototypes and compare the lettering style and sizes to the E-Bay item. Not even close. Plus the cross is a 1914-1916 configuration. Plus Rodney could not pretend it came from F.I 103/17 since he had already faked a PRO report on 103/17with fabric samples attached . If somebody buys this, hope he does not brag about it too much.
