Russian aviation camouflage & markings vol I and II offer

Hello, I think this fits here, though moderator may wish to move it to the book forum

The good people on the Naval and Military Press have these books on offer at a bargain price, thought it would be of interest to some

As Askania said, it was too good of a deal to pass up. I just just ordered both volumes. Thanks for the tip!

I've received my copies of Volumes 1 and 2. They're just full of unpublished photographs and beautiful color profiles.

It will be a while before I have time to read the books (I have a very long list of other books I need to read first), but I did notice an odd mistake while looking through Volume 2. It occurs in a section concerning the "Grenadier Corps Aviation Otryad" during the Battle of Kovel beginning in late July of 1916. It is stated on p. 20:

"It was there that, on the orders of the German High Command, Jagdgeschwader 2, a big air formation combining six fully-fledged Jastas, was transferred directly from the battle of Verdun."

The authors may have confused their terms or perhaps it is an error on the part of the translator, Wojtek Matusiak. In any event, it should have been "Kampfgeschwader 2" and "Kastas". The translation could have used a little polishing here and there, but that's the only big mistake I've noticed.

This shouldn't dissuade anyone from buying the books. From the detailed appearance of the rare information presented in the text, I'm sure the authors know their stuff. And the wealth of visual material alone makes these books well worth the price.
