Aces Over Wright Field & Rhinebeck RB3D Player Gathering

Salute All!

We would like to cordially invite you, your entire squad, and your family and friends to attend this years Virtual Aces presentation of "Aces Over Wright Field" and "Aces Over Rhinebeck" for a Red Baron 3D Player Gathering and Red Baron 3D LAN Party to coincide with the World War I Air Shows to be held at both the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio and the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum in Rhinebeck, New York.

Come and meet your fellow squadmates and fellow RB3D enthusiasts in person for a weekend or two of fun flying head to head on our own computer network while also enjoying two of the world's best and largest WWI Air Shows!

Aces Over Wright Field - September 30, 2005, through October 2, 2005

This is our flagship event this year. Come and join us for a three day 24/7 RB3D LAN party and fly until you drop on a network of over 25 computers all connected to the same server! Enter for a chance to win a free computer system! There will be other prizes as well and every participant will be given a certificate of participation. See the Dawn Patrol Fly-In fill the skies over the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum with over 50 WWI Aircraft featuring vintage original and reproduction World War I aircraft flying over the museum, with the aircraft launching from and landing on the museum’s rear field. See full scale and 7/8-scale war birds such as the Nieuport 11, 17, and 28's, Spads, Fokker DR-1 triplanes, SE.5's and more. Pilots will perform precision and formation flying in the skies over the museum and compete in flour-bombing and balloon-busting events. There will also be will flying exhibitions by WWI radio-controlled aircraft, era automobiles on display and participating in a parade, WWI period re-enactors in a war encampment setting and a “swap and shop” for WWI items. Tour the museum! Watch an IMAX show! Ride the Morphis aviation simulator!

The RB3D LAN party will be held at the Ramada Limited & Suites Hotel just minutes from the museum (pets are also welcome at both the Hotel and the Air Show). For your convenience we have reserved a block of rooms at a group discount rate. On Friday night we have arranged for a buffet wings dinner for all attendees and participants at the Quaker Steak & Lube. On Saturday night all RB3D players are invited to attend a closed to the public dinner buffet to be held inside the museum itself in honor of the Air Show participants. Meet and talk with the pilots, reenactors, and other air show personnel! There will be music provided by the Air Force Band and you will be free to tour the museum after it has closed to the public. (There may even be a free IMAX showing!)

Bring the wife, hubby, and kids as we have a full list of links for other area activities and events to keep everyone happy and hopping from shopping and dining, to amusement parks, movies, theatre, comedy, golf and much, much more!

The RB3D LAN Party and the Air Show at the WPAFB museum are both free and open to the public. There is a nominal fee per person for both the dinners and registration is required to attend one or both dinner events. Please visit the Virtual Aces Website for more information and to register. http://www.virtualaces.net/ The Dawn Patrol Fly-In and WWI Air Show at WPAFB occurs only every two years so don't miss your chance this year!

Aces Over Rhinebeck - September 3 & 4, 2005 (Labor Day Weekend)

The site of previous years RB3D player gatherings and LAN Party and an annual event. The RB3D LAN Party will be held at the Holiday Inn in Kingston, New York and we have reserved a block of rooms here as well for your convenience. The hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for both days of the Event. The cost will be $25.00 per person, which includes breakfast and a buffet lunch. All participants are also invited to attend the annual banquet on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Max's Memphis Barbeque. The cost will be $32.50 per person.

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a living museum of antique aviation placed in a beautiful wooded setting. The Aerodrome presents one of the largest and best collections of early aeroplanes in the world. The museum offers various weekly shows, but the Labor Day show is dedicated to WWI. The Aerodrome features aeroplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, early engines and memorabilia from 1900-1935. In addition to the air shows, there are four museum buildings displaying aircraft form the Pioneer Era, World War I and the Lindbergh/Barnstorming era. There will also be remote controlled WWI airplanes as well. For the thrill of a life time make sure to sign up for barnstorming biplane ride over the scenic Hudson Valley taking you over the beautiful Hudson River, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and back again! Tickets are required for the Air Show and Museum and we have arranged for a group discount price. The WWI Air Show itself starts at 2:00PM each day.

Registration is required for this event if you wish to attend the LAN party and the Air Show. Registration for this event closes on August 1, 2005. Please visit the Virtual Aces Website for more information and to register. http://www.virtualaces.net/

Virtual Aces is a non-profit for fun organization made up of fellow flight sim and RB3D nuts. Your Virtual Aces team consists of Tiger, Pickett, and Murph and our goal is to make this as much fun for each of you as possible and if there is anything we can do to help you please let us know either by visiting the Virtual Aces Forums or via email. These events are a great chance to get together and have your own squadron reunion and if there is anything we can do to help make that happen for your squad, again please let us know.

We are also looking for volunteers who would be willing to bring their computers, joysticks, headphones, and RB3D game discs as the more computers we can hook up to the network the better! Muhahahaha! If you'd be willing to help us out with setting up and tearing down the network it would also be greatly appreciated. We also have reserved a second smaller conference room at the Ramada Inn for the Aces over Wright Field in which we are planning on holding small RB3D seminars for the players benefit on such various topics as running your own server, server security, patching, paints, tactics and combats maneuvers, various FM's, glide wrappers, etc. If you, or a group of you would be interested in running a small seminar or putting on a demonstration of your various talents, creations, and skills to increase everyone's enjoyment of this game please let us know as well.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible this fall for the times of our lives

S! Virtual Aces

Also remember that the "circle of honor" will be held at the Air Force Museum even as well. Bring your combat planks and a sense of humor!

Smile

Please do as many of my fellow players would love to speak with all of you!

The Red Baron 3D WWI flight sim is still alive and kicking and for some of us as close as we can get right now to the real thing, lol.

WinXP originally knocked a number of players out of the sim in the name of progress and a lack of support for older machines, grahic and sound cards, etc, but there is now a free downloadable utility called "The Red Baron First Aid Kit" that automatically corrects any problems and configures your XP comptuer for the game. If any one is interested please let me know.

The game itself has been off the shelves and out of print for a few years becoming regulated to an ebay item, but we are also working to make a full working version of the WWI flight sim a free download as well here soon

Yes, it's still only a virtual flight simulator and a game, but hey it's still a chance to get a small feel and sense of what it may have been like and at least we can actually afford to shoot down the other guy
