Sept 28 2005, 1300-1500hrs
Hey, it looks a lot busier today with Fred Murrin & Rick Bennett here.

Rick has the N11 already in the Museum's hangers and at work assembling
his plane

Thumbs up

Awesome pics, Jan . . .

Looking very much forward to getting down there tomorrow - awefully difficult concentrating at work with these distractions

'til later,

Lee

Nice pics Thanks!
Rick's Nie. 11 is about my favorite of the Nieuports. I sure like those Belgium markings.

Lee, I've been the same way all day. Good thing it's slow and the boss is away.

Hope to be rolling in about 2:00. Looks as if it could be a might breezy Thursday afternoon. Other than that, it sure looks like the weather's going to be fantastic! (A bit chilly in the A.M. though). 2003 was much to hot for late September.

WOW...I think I had waaay more fun today then a human being is suppose to have.
What a great day and when I arrived at the hangers, I could tell all the big boys had arrived because of the size of their moving vans!! (These guys have the mega-moolah)

The big surprise is that Mr Kermit Weeks & crew arrived with their Fokker D8 (Brian Coughlin's old plane)complete with Gnome engine. Kermit said they don't intend to fly the D8, but they certainly will fire the Gnome up for everyone.

Howard Whyte had just the bare airframe on display in 2003, but this year its here completed and will fly. After the assembly, it was moved to the adjacent hanger.

Bill Brucken and his newly finished N27 flew in from his home field in New Carlisle Ohio

John Pinsent & son and their very nice N17. The craftsmanship on this project is unbelievable and should give Rick Bennett a run for the money in the concours class judging.

Many N12s arrived and Butch Witlock was seen putting the final nuts & bolts in his N12.

Joe Cook and wife brought their N12 project to show everyone their project and to spur up enthusiasm for the new homebuilders...Cool!

Well, it started out to be a great day of flying, Bill Brucken was first
up in his N27, next came Howard Whyte in his N28, and then a N17. Bill
made it up okay and was in the pattern. Howard Whyte in the N28 started rolling and that big Russian radial was roarring. He was on his way rolling & getting speed, he rotated and the N28 started to climb, then engine just lost power and he bounced hard and turtled his plane. He's okay and there must have been a dozen emergency vehicles and CareFlight flew in.
Picture below of Whyte warming up on taxiway, next of the recovery crews bring the plane back.

A neat 1/6 RC scale Gotha

The two rotary powered triplanes. Great Show!!!

Tomorrow will be much more of the same, with more great weather...

Some photos from today . . . .

Ross Walton's Tripe:

Fred Murrin brought his Tripe behind the fence in between flights for everyone to get a close look. Here it is with a group of German re-enactors:

One of the builders of this Wright Model B demonstrates the controls:

Kermit Weeks' Fokker D.VIII:

Although they weren't able to fly it, the Fantasy of Flight crew ran up the D.VIII's 160hp Gnome for the crowd:
