Well, the event is now history. It was a blast. We had great weather (sunny, temps about 80, wind 5-10mph straight down the runway) and had planes in the air almost constantly.
We had fellows bring in all sorts of neat WW1 R/C planes. (Camels, Tripes, SE5s, Fokker D.VIIs and D.VIIIs, etc.) Plus some "Golden Age" stuff, like a 1/4-scale 1929 Fleet with 5-cylinder radial.
The local paper did a write-up on the Tuesday before the event and a photo spread in the Sunday edition. (They even got the facts straight and the names spelled right!

) So we had some spectator traffic which gave us the opportunity to share our hobby with the public.
Then there was the legendary dogfight between my Camel and Terry Lamm's Triplane. (It was just supposed to be a carefully choreographed "mock dogfight", but I guess Terry and I are a little more competitive than we thought!

) It was so much fun that Terry and I couldn't wipe the grins off our faces for an hour. We may have to consider adding WW1 R/C Combat to next years event.
I was too busy flying to take pictures, but I'll post some photo links as I get them.
We hope to see some of you next year.
Best regards,
Dean in Omaha
