From the response from aircraft owners requesting pilot packets it looks like we will have the best Rendezvous yet. Two museums are trying to figure how to get their aircraft to Dayton which would add six to the count of flying full scale. The 7/8 scale count is exploding as well. I may not have to fly the whole last hour by myself this year! Yesterday the World Airshow News magazine contacted us. They want to cover the show and take in flight photos. There will also be several full scale half finished projects there, a Pup, DVa, N11, D7 and maybe my Hd.1 fuse if I get my but in gear. The AIM Schools are going to try to bring some of the aircraft they have been building. The Morane A1 may be flying by then. Marvin said he would like to bring it if he can fly it. As the count gets firmed up I will publish a list.

It would be great to get air-to-air video clips, and the flight photos and compile the whole thing into a DVD to sale, just like the preceeding DPRs events. I wonder if they would take that on?

The Ohio Dawn Patrol (RC guys) will be there hopefully with our full compliment including the 1/2 scale DVI and a 42% DrI and several 1/3 models. I also have to plug our event on the weekend of July 18, you can visit our site for the particulars. Have a great day.

Dawn Patrol info request
Rick, I took a look at the GWAA site and need info on places to stay and schedule of events. I'm planning on building a Fokker D.VII and am planning to attend to look at some other airplanes.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in person, especially Jeff and his project if he trailers it out.
Thanks,
Darrel Jones

Darrel,
Hey, I'm sure other people would like the same info. I'll compose a list this week of lodging.
(I take it you're a Ham, me too N8CBX)

Dawn Patrol info-more
Jan,
Yes. I usually fly a Stinson 108-3 with a 20 meter antenna from each wingtip to the tail. I'm planning on taking it back to Oshkosh this year with another ham along and we will operate air mobile during the trip.
The Dawn Patrol Rendezvous is my other big trip for the year. I've checked air fares and found round trip prices from SFO to Dayton at about $240. All I need is a cheap hotel and car and I'm all set.
The other ham is retired Air Force so he may come along to visit Wright-Pat as well.
So much to see (and do), so little time.
Thanks, Darrel

The Hope hotel sounds like the best deal around and its pretty secure being located on the Base property, but with public access. It does have a decent restaurant too and located right next to the main (open 24 hrs) gate.
