Another couple of tidbits.

Miller Field in NY was named after James Ely Miller (My Great Grandfather).

Miller was in the 95th Squadron.

Miller was friends with Rickenbacker--mentioned in three different chapters of "Fighting the Flying Circus".

NEEDED- Looking for the following:

1. "Hall of Fame of the Air" for James Ely Miller, as he was the first pilot shot down in WW1 (KIA), and also my Great Grandfather. If anyone knows where I can find this item, I would greatly appreciate it.

2. Trying to get a copy of all flight records of his journey.

Also, if information is needed, please contact me. byron@derringer.us

Sincerely,

I've just discovered this great website after attending the Dawn Patrol Rendezvous at Wright-Patterson AFB today. Question: My grandfather, Claude McDonald, served as an aircraft mechanic in the 22nd Aero Squadron. Does anyone have any information about him? Thank you!

I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. I saw an interesting plaque with Captain James Fitz-Morris's name and information about his death on it. I didn't know if your data base would like to update the information or not. Please email me if you would like the information. Thanks, Christopher Jones.

Robert F. Evans JrValdosta, Georgia

My Grandfather 1st Lt. Herbert L. Evans was a WW1 pilot. I have his original uniform, orders, letters home, logs etc...He served late in the war under Simmonds with the 147th. He also flew with others. He was a member of the American Flying Club after the war in New york city. he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in 1953. His brother Arlington and my Father are also buried there.
I have enjoyed your site. Thanks!

This is simply the finest site on the internet I've found on the subjects of WWI aviation! Keep up the great work, as I often use this to teach aviation cadets about the First World War.
