Enjoyed your material on Maj David McK Peterson of the Lafayette Escadrille--a native of my home town, and mentioned in Jeff Shaara's new book "To The Last Man." Our local American Legion Post is named in his honor. Incidentally, Honesdale is also the home town of Gen Lyman L Lemnitzer, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Supreme NATO commander. I lived around the corner from the general from 1966 until he died and have many good memories of this great soldier.

I'm looking for information on my Grandfather John Kenneth Watson who flew in WWI in the 52 squadron in France. He flew R.E.8. This site was the closest I've come to finding information. I have many WWI pictures which I am trying to identify. Great site.

We were on holiday in Antigua recently and saw a memorial plaque to Ian McDonald killed in action in Iraq in 1920. We wanted to know more about him and used your site to do this. Very informative and gave us the information we wanted.

There doesn't seem to be much more one can say after reading dozens of these tributes.
I have to agree with them all. A wonderful, wonderful site!

I had looked at this website some years ago as my father was listed on it. A while ago my son said he thought The Aerodrome was gone from the web, but when I checked, here it is. My dad was Irving Corey. I have some photos that might be of interest from WWI, but I'm not sure where to send them. A very interesting site.

Guido Scheffer was my grandfather. Our family had his WWI photos for years but knew little about them. I have really appreciated your interest in the photos and the information about the people he flew with as well as the plains they flew in. Thanks again.

What a fine site! I have long been interested in WWI aviation, but I have not found a better site and one with more information on aces and aircraft.

I found this while looking up information on William Thaw, prompted by my reading of "To The Last Man" by Jeff Shaara. My reading has been enhanced by being able to see pictures and histories of the pilots in this book.

Thanks for the great work on the site and the content!

Very nice site. I am listening to the audiobook of Shaara's "To the Last Man" and this is a very good adjunct to that novel. Very interesting history. When I was a young boy, I can still remember Armistice Day and the little white 'poppies' that were passed out as reminders...but all those men are gone now. In my own time, I've taken care of men primarily of the 2nd World War and the Korean conflict...we must all thank them for their service...

Great page. I have a lot of fun with these details. Does anybody know, if there is such a page for aircrafts of World War II?
