The best site I have discovered on Great war aviators and aircraft - my compliments. I was searching for the dates that individual aircraft types were in service (ntroduced/discontinued) and more importantly, mow many of each type entered service. This seems scarce or unobtainable especially for German aircraft. Has anybody made informed estimates (e.g. numbers built, entered service, destroyed by type?). Or is there a website where I can glean this data? Thanks.

Excellent site for WW I flying services research. Your site is put together beautifully. My dad was a WW I vet fighting in some of the bloodiest battles of the war following America's entry in April/May 1918. Your info on Raoul Lufberry and von Richthofen and their aircraft has made my reading of Jeff Shaara's To The Last Man even more enjoyable.

Really nice site. I woner if anyone could help, I have a 1887 Mug with a frog inside and a servicemans name on the mug.
I was told that in the first world war servicemen used to get mugs made with sculptured animal inside for comfort and the mug would be used for soup, tea etc.
Any information would be gladly received. Thanks

When I was young, a friend built 1/4 inch scale solid models, specializing in WW I aircraft. He built a model Fokker D-VIII. My recoleection of the history of the aircraft included a statement that it was deadly, it was banned by Geneva Convention. Can anyone verify this? My friend's name was Ward Albertson and I have lost touch with him. Does that name ring any bells and does anyone have any information on the current whereabouts of Ward? If so, please contact me at my e-mail address.
