august g. blumecharlottesville, virginia

i've been viewing the aerodrome forum for some time and
have finally registered. among the many topics i'm looking
into is the subject of airmen defecting to the other side.
have found two airmen serving with Fliks that had done so.
looking for details on others. cheers, august

What are you talking about? The Red Baron was definently shot down by Roy Brown. (-.-)

Roy Brown did not shot down Manfred von Ricthofen it was a ground trooper using a machine gun from the Austrlian infantry

gordon weare warrington, new zealand

Can someone tell me more about Frank G.C.WEARE, fighter Ace ? I am a Weare family historian. I know the Weare's are generally a Bristol & surrounds family. Isn't it an irony that Frank Weare flew a Bristol fighter ? From my accounts, 11 Weare's were killed in the WW1, alas Frank Weare returned, among other Weare survivors. Weare's were once a well known family in Devon & Bristol, but wars, battles have taken our numbers down. Without doubt the Weare's have played major roles in history.

It is nice to know your family had an RFC ace like Frank G.C.Weare, but as a small, quite british family, our losses were very great. lest we forget ! Gordon Weare.

Very imformative site. My great grandfather was a fighter pilot of WW1, he served under Barraca, in 8 Squadiglia and was awarded bronze medal of valour in 1917 for his part during the battle over the River Piare.
