Established: The Military Merit Cross (Militärverdienstkreuz) was established on 5 August 1848 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II. The 1914 version was authorized on 28 February 1915.
Two Classes: First and Second Class
Criteria:
Military Merit Cross, Second Class
The Military Merit Cross was awarded to recipients of all ranks for bravery or military merit in World War I.
