Mark, Fantastic! Do you know of any structural weakness in The Albatross D-Va ? If there was any, I don't see it. The pilots that flew them must have been very confident in them. TeeKay

"Do you know of any structural weakness in The Albatross D-Va"

Yes, I believe the lower wing had a tendancy to twist and break off.
They added that little strut down at the bottom of the V strut to try and fix the problem, but I'm not sure how well it worked.

The DV series was pretty much a rip off of the Nieuport 11.
which had the exact same problem.

Your reply reminds me of the book by James McCudden, "Five Years in The RAF". He talks about his account of mixing it up with an Albatross and seeing the birds wing rip off, then floating down slowly to the ground. It landed only a few yards from where the rest of the airplane crashed. (Could be a cool painting). TeeKay

How about doing a Fokker EV/DVIII of Jasta-6 like this? Excellent!

I'm glad I didn't give the other phantom view a 10, because this one deserves it. As to the strut supporter, this sounds reasonable. On the other hand, adopting the Fokker DVII wing strut pattern might be a stronger design. I'm no engineer, but the DVII was awesome for its day. Stachel
