Naval 8 was formed at St. Pol in October 1916 and flew its first sortie on 3 November 1916. The squadron first victory was scored on 9 November 1916 by Flight Sub-Lieutenant DMB Galbraith. Naval 8 became 208 Squadron in the Royal Air Force on 1 April 1918.
