I have been trying to research German aerial activities prior to, and during "Operation Michael", the German spring offensive of 1918, and have lamented the lack of materials available. Specifically, I am interested in obtaining info on when aerial activities increased, prior to the campaign, what type of two-seater missions were carried out, and where? Were there increased duties for the Jastas to protect them? What response did the RFC put up in the way of reconnaissance flights?
If anyone can answer any of these questions or point me in the right direction to find them out, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks,
Albatros

My suggestion would be to get hold of a copy of "Air War Flanders -1918" by Robert Jackson, ISBN 1-84037-004-1.

This covers the Spring Offensive of "Michael" which ran from March 21, 1918 to April 5, 1918 inclusive and consisted of three seperate strikes. Starting at page 28.

Other offensives followed:
Georgette 9-11 April 1918
Blucher-Yorck - 27 May 1918
Gneiseanu - 9 June 1918
Marne-Rheims - 15-17 July 1918

Then there is the Allied Counter-offensive July-Nov 1918.
