Hi,
A friend of mine is looking for factory paint schemes of the halberstadt C.III - I have no references on it. It has a wood fuselage - was it like an early Albatros - varnished wood - or painted like the halberstad CL.II? Were the wings painted fabric or lozenge? What markings were used - iron cross or balkencruz?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave:
From what I have been able to determine, the Halb.C.III was not a production aircraft. Apparently it did not cut the mustard.
The fuselage was finished in the dark five color scheme of dark green, light green, dark mauve, brown and ochre. The bottom of the fuselage is presumed to be unpainted in the varnished birch plywood approximating a yellow straw color.
the wings, tailplane, fin ad rudder were covered with five color printed fabric, the dark on the upper and side surfaces and the light pattern on the bottom surfaces of the wings and tailplane.
Black Iron Cross in the usual eight places.
blue skies,

Here is an image of the CLII example that survives in Krakow Poland.

I believe someone else may have some shots of this on a website which show it from different angles.
I have tried to replicate the finish in photoshop on my Halb profiles
Halb CL II Page (http://wingstrut.com/Halberstadt%20CL%20II.htm)
The finish is one of the most difficult to replicate for modeller or artist. Good luck!
